- Fairly course leaves green or purplish with an attractive purple/red/green seed head

- Found naturally in the UK in every county! Found in meadows, pastures, lowlands, wasteland, cultivated land, pond/shade/river margins, moist soils, heavier soils and sometimes shaded areas.
- Used in amenity meadow mixtures, with wildflower seed mixtures and in the past in agricultural seed mixtures.
- Palatable to stock and useful in hay seed mixtures. Fairly low growing, bottom grass in the sward.
