- A small seeded, loosely tufted grass (spreading with short rhizomes)
- Cultivar originally selected from Oregon USA, from naturalised bents
- Can spot in fine turf, due to blueish-green leaf colour. Distinguished from Agrostis Tenuis by colour, broader leaves, more vigorous growth and different ligule size.
- Low growing and can be close mown
- High shoot density
- Early heading and good drought resistance
- Not native in the UK, however large amounts are imported every year. Typically found in lawns, landscapes, low grade golf greens, bowling greens, reclamation projects, sown grass meadows (with/without wildflower seed)
- Usually requires a pH of 4-6
- Usually requires 12-27 degrees to germinate
- Flowers June-Aug
- 10-100cm in height
