1991 WAS THE LAST YEAR INDEPENDENT SAC & NIAB TRIALS WERE CONDUCTED. YIELD: SAC results, as shown above, indicate AIRLIE gives the highest yield of dry matter from roots of medium dry matter percentage, showing AIRLIE to be a reliably high yielding variety with a well proven record. SUMMARY: The high yields shown in trial, superb performance from farm scale crops for both forage use and supermarket use. Along with excellent disease resistance and confirmation characteristics suggest AIRLIE will be an even more sought after variety in the coming years.
ROOT SHAPE: Slightly intermediate-similar to Angela, but has very consistent roots in the field. Good yield
ROOT/SKIN COLOUR: AIRLIE has bright purple skin and root colour similar to Marian.
TOP SIZE: AIRLIE is a very distinctive pale green small-topped variety, slightly larger than Melfort.
NECK LENGTH: Very similar to Ruta Otofte.
CLUB ROOT: Trials suggest its resistance is similar to Ruta Otofte and Marian.
MILDEW: Results to date show AIRLIE has a very good resistance to mildew, very similar to Bangholm Magres.
