Modern Day sports surfaces are now more demanding than ever, how often are Football matches or Golf Courses shut or closed these days??-hardly ever, as leisure time (for some) increases so does the demand we place on grass Turf areas.  Modern breeding advancement is very significant with course species being bred with very fine leaf blades.  Wear tolerance and, even tolerance to shade, are now very important characteristics that cultivars are being selected for.

Hurrells use cultivars from most breeders and are completely independent with their varietal selections – no matter what the situation we have  a mixture that will provide sports turf to professional level.

Cultivars are tested independently in the UK by the Sports Turf Research Institute and similar testing is done in most similar European countries that share common geography and similar climatic features to our own country.

Most varieties available in the UK are also pan European varieties available in a multitude of countries.  With our contacts we are able to stock and have continual availability of the leading UK cultivars that are commonly available.  With our technical expertise and available selections we can help Groundsman at all levels – we provide solutions to problems.
